ABSTRACT

The introductory section of The Routledge Companion to Performance-Related Concepts in Non-European Languages comprises three texts, each offering a distinct perspective and fulfilling a specific function. We strongly encourage readers to peruse all three texts before delving into the individual language sections to gain a comprehensive understanding of the book’s scope and objectives. My own “General Introduction” provides an exposition of the motivations and rationales that guided the book’s creation process from its very beginning, representing the overarching vision and goals of our team. Torsten Jost’s “Conclusion” distils the insights gained and lessons learned throughout the creation process, encapsulating our collective thoughts and ideas upon completing the book. Finally, Astrid Schenka’s “Editorial Statement” explains the editorial considerations and processes underlying the creation of the book and offers insight into the editorial methodology of the project.
