ABSTRACT
When the editorial team began work on this Companion in 2015, we agreed that in the final stages of its creation, it would be appropriate to write a conclusion explaining and summarizing decisions made, lessons learned, as well as insights, questions and ideas gathered. Now, in the summer of 2022, writing such an epilogue suddenly seems less appropriate. For it implies that the research has come to a definite conclusion, a true “end,” when in fact we are more convinced than ever that this can only be a beginning. Thus, we are not drawing a finishing line at this point to proudly present “final results.” Instead, we want to take this opportunity to make a case for the urgent need to continue the research presented here.
