ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book highlights critical issues related to social mobility in global higher education in response to the growing economic inequality worldwide. It explores diverse national, institutional, and ethnic perspectives and considers the factors that contribute to unequal labor market outcomes and its consequences. The book provides critical reflections on social mobility with a focus on questions around how policy and practice can make such educational efforts more socially just. It includes recommendations for practitioners and policymakers with recommendations for how higher education can approach issues of inequality and social justice. Given concerns about income inequality worldwide, the critical issues outlined will inform institutional policy working towards more effective, inclusive, and equitable ways to promote social mobility by addressing both the academic, policy, and practical implications of the research.
