ABSTRACT

Hiren Gohain in this chapter reviews Goswami’s works. He remarks that a singular intensity of feeling and a searching honesty, courage and masterful confidence of expression, mark Goswami’s writings. Her adventurous and questing mind, stimulated by unusual circumstances of her temperament and life, has led her into uncharted regions of existence, crowded with strange and fascinating objects. Her language combines remarkable economy with passion and sensuous vigour with telling details. There cannot be any doubt that she is a major author from whom great things can be expected. Gohain ropes in pertinent examples from Datal Hatir Une Khowa Howdah, ‘The Offspring’, ‘Ahiran’ etc. to prove his point.
