ABSTRACT
1942: Born on 14 November in Guwahati. Her parents Umakanta Goswami and Ambika Devi welcomed her by naming her ‘Indira', which is a celebration of the political milestones of Jawaharlal Nehru and also, the fact that she was born on the day of Nehru's birthday. Her mother, however, fondly calls her ‘Mamoni' which translates to ‘mother's jewel' in Assamese.
