ABSTRACT

This chapter utilizes autoethnography to uncover the co-editor’s story from tenured associate professor to tenured full professor (Sharon Fries-Britt) and from tenure-track assistant professor to tenured associate professor (Bridget Turner Kelly). The chapter includes connections to how the original Retaining Each Other article the two co-wrote has been cited and utilized by scholars in the field and how this long-term, 24 year mentoring relationship has sustained them. The chapter concludes with how their mentoring relationship, scholarship, and academic journey inspired the current book.
