ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the creation and use of #CiteASista as an online platform and digital counter community by and for Black womxn within and beyond the academy. #CiteASista exists to disrupt the cultural expectation and normalcy of using Black womxn’s work, voices, and labor while failing to credit and appropriately attribute our creations to the tangible outcomes we develop. We use this chapter to focus on #CiteASista’s history and how Black womxn across (and beyond) the academy use #CiteASista to engage in (co)mentoring, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of improved literal citational ethics.
