ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the role of arts and resistance during and leading up to the 1998–1999 Kosovo war with Serbia that resulted in gross atrocities including ethnic cleansing and cultural erasure. Projects and programming for the local community at the Fellbach-Haus Center for Creative Education in Suhareka, in Suhareka/Theranda, developed directly after the war, are shared. The chapter then focuses on the development of the Festari International Art Colony (FIAC), part of the larger Festari festival. The chapter emphasizes how the arts can address trauma as well as inspire visioning for the future.
