ABSTRACT

This chapter, authored by Bobo GloBal founder Alexia Sobrado, describes multiple business partnerships collaborating with predominantly indigenous, female artists and artisans in Guatemala, Peru, Ethiopia, and India. Countering the mass production of fast fashion from sweatshop slave labor, fashion toxic waste, and the appropriation of indigenous designs and textile work, it includes the complexities of language, gender, and race, as the two-women team travels around the world to remote areas establishing and sustaining cross-cultural relationships through respect and trust.
