ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has had a substantial impact on global society particularly in terms of health, well-being, and economic effects. India due to its strategic economic position in society has been affected by COVID-19 most notably in terms of its small business sector. The aim of this chapter is to discuss how COVID-19 as a black swan event has changed the trajectory of India’s economic growth. This means that previous economic performance estimates need to be revised to consider the effect COVID-19 has had on the economy. This chapter discusses how the micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprise sector in India has been affected by COVID-19-related changes particularly in terms of export and imports. Thereby offering a new and notable contribution to how India’s economic policy will change due to COVID-19.
