Introduction

This chapter introduces the context, lays out the book’s framework and aims, defines key terms, and introduces the volume’s structure. It also draws together key conceptual threads for the volume, such as different definitions of heritage, on the role of law in relation to power, the ways in which heritage shapes the law and the ways in which law shapes heritage.
