ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses concepts and methods involving visual and performance art for arts-based group therapy through Zoom. Using examples from the author’s practice, we see how the screen becomes a space for art-making and acts as a stage for artistic presentations while considering the unique characteristics of virtual spaces. Implications for synchronous and asynchronous methodologies are presented, where clients can interact live via videoconferencing sessions and further collaborate at their own time through a mutually accessible server space on Google Drive. The methods presented here relate to the idea of using the screen as a stage and can be used as a framework for many sessions.
