Summer at Market Hill

Summer came, and the dean returned to Market Hill. ¹ Again we know little about his experiences there. But judging from what happened afterwards, I suspect that a rift between Lady Acheson and her husband became so noticeable that it troubled the dean. He probably spent much time at the house of Henry Leslie. ² He certainly determined that he would not, after all, build a house on Drapier’s Hill. In fact, he wrote a poem about the decision.
