In this interview, legendary Malian puppetry artist, historian, and conservationist Yaya Coulibaly explains the fundamental spiritual beliefs and social functions of traditional sogo bò puppetry. As a spiritual leader and artistic creator, he shares an understanding of a secretive ritual practice, as well as his own perspective on the need to maintain the inherited tradition to preserve cultural identity and to build peace in the future.
