ABSTRACT

This chapter will describe some contemporary examples of occupational therapy practice areas that have emerged to meet a community need and fill a service gap. The chapter will also explain some innovative approaches to use of emergent technologies in service provision from the perspective of occupational therapists in Australia and discuss the importance of remaining innovative and responsive through emerging occupational therapy practice areas in Australia. The chapter also aims to demonstrate the role of research and evidence in the development and evaluation of emerging technologies in occupational therapy practice areas.
