ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the main ideas presented in the book. As reported in the chapter, the book has argued that learning skills associated with resilience can act as a buffer protecting one’s mental health in the face of inevitable life challenges. The chapter reminds readers of the theory supported by the different chapters in this collection around the necessity to study resilience prior to and beyond the moment one faces challenges. It also reminds readers that, in addition to expanding the temporal dimension for the conceptualization of resilience, the book also documents a global conversation on the topic by looking at contextual and societal factors that hinder, or support, the efforts to build, access and improve resilience skills.
