ABSTRACT

This chapter examines three cases of immersive storytelling that address social issues through empathy, compassion, and feeling of presence—Eva: A-7063, Lesson Learned from That Dragon Cancer, and Coming Home Virtually—and relates them to the theoretical frameworks offered in the prior chapter. There are three sections in each case study: a brief description and background information about the studies and target audience, psychological theories and outcomes of immersive experiences, and a takeaway message which provides suggestions for future immersive media designers and storytellers.
