ABSTRACT

This chapter explores usability and user experience principles for transmedia storytelling. Specifically, it focuses on both traditional and customized testing strategies, including how to collect user requirements and develop user personas for new media content systems, core usability and user experience principles, exploring user experience for stories that cross physical and digital spaces, testing processes and data analysis, iterative design and development processes, and techniques for testing and evaluating audience engagement. Specific testing methodologies and protocols will also be discussed, including card sorting, field study, task-based usability testing, heuristics inspection, cognitive walkthroughs, and remote UI/UX testing.
