ABSTRACT

Based on the translation by José Alonso Ortiz of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations (WN), Investigación de la naturaleza y causas de la riqueza de las naciones, published in 1794 in Valladolid, this chapter proposes to trace the lexical and historical trajectories of some economic concepts of that time. The work seeks to analyse the first complete translation in Spanish of the WN and the economic terminology of the eighteenth century.
