ABSTRACT

This case study describes how Plumas County Unified School District implemented a hands-on, outdoor place-based learning (PBL) program called Outdoor Core Mountain Kid. Readers will learn about the origins of Outdoor Core Mountain Kid and the programmatic structures that were put in place to ensure its success and sustainability. They will also be introduced to the program’s year-long, grade-level themes and the variety of experiences that students engage in as they progress from grade to grade.
