ABSTRACT

This case study describes how Prairie Crossing Charter School adopted an integrated approach to its curriculum through an increased focus on place-project-problem-based learning (P3BL) using a sustainability lens. Readers will learn how Prairie Crossing teachers adapted education for sustainability (EfS) standards for a K-8 setting and created grade-level units that incorporate P3BL and EfS. They will also find examples of how Prairie Crossing’s integrated approach is being applied to units across all grade levels and learn how this method of teaching and learning is having a positive impact on students and teachers.
