ABSTRACT
The effectiveness of a paramilitary structure in policing how modern-day leadership styles have been found to be effective are examined in this chapter. The authors take a unique approach to evaluate the past, present, and future of common policing styles that have been used and why identifying an effective style of leadership matters when addressing problems that impact police agencies and how they police. Leadership training is acknowledged as an important tool for producing motivated and productive officers.
