ABSTRACT

Environmental sustainability is a growing topic of concern in business management. This interest is driven by climate change and rising environmental awareness among consumers, and as a result more and more organisations are turning to a management philosophy based on sustainability. In this chapter we examine the need to move towards a more sustainable economic model and discuss what this change should consist of. We illustrate this model through an analysis of Patagonia Inc., a company whose business philosophy is based on protecting and caring for the environment. The main aim of this chapter is to inspire the development of a more sustainable economy.
