ABSTRACT
Industrial heritage in Cuba constitutes a valuable source for the knowledge of socioeconomic and cultural development in the country. The emergence and improvement of various industrial productions, until the nineteenth century, generated the creation of a valuable material heritage that, due to its importance, deserves to be preserved as accumulated wealth, and which culturally reaffirms the identity and historical memory of the nation. The research addresses the development of Cuban industrial heritage, reflected through its different stages and economic branches, which are more than sugar, coffee, and tobacco, and which are supported by the great technological advances that contributed to the economic rise characteristic of the period. The research is presented as a broad overview of the topic and as a further step in the preservation and dissemination of Cuban cultural heritage.
