ABSTRACT

The positive impact of the graduate practitioner in early years settings on practice, colleagues and children is well documented. Yet the transition from practitioner to practitioner/university student/researcher and then graduate practitioner can often be challenging, especially to students who may have been away from education for some time. This chapter provides practical advice to those embarking upon university study via the use of case studies, activities and reflective questions. The chapter examines the transition between level 3, level 4 and level 5 and of the academic requirements of higher education. Strategies to support academic success and reflective practitioners are considered in detail.
