ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of mediation and moderation analyses within the context of special education research. Throughout the chapter, we outline characteristics of mediation and moderation analyses, their utility in examining the role of individual differences, and how researchers may use these analyses to investigate developmental phenomena and experimental effects more proactively and precisely. We provide applied examples of mediation and moderation analyses in special education empirical research and make recommendations for extending knowledge of these analyses and their more advanced applications.
