ABSTRACT

This book raises the question of the not very researched relation between spite and contextual theology. In a traditional and stereotypical view, spite is perceived as a negative notion, an act of disobedience to God. However, contextual theology gives a new perspective on understanding spite. Related to specific Balkan's political, social, cultural, and theological context spite can be understood as a process of deliverance from all of the centres of power, tyrants, and their narratives and can be utilised and perceived as an act that brings man closer to God. Understanding this in a double contextual manner: not just in mentioned Balkan's context but also in the context of Islamic theology opens new possibilities of understanding and gives fruitful relations to now political and theological horizons and enormous potential for freedom.
