ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the many challenges facing Zimbabwe's agrarian sector in the context of recent political developments. It highlights some of the shortcomings of the post-Mugabe government in terms of its failure to address the many challenges facing the agricultural sector. Furthermore, this chapter examines how a combination of punitive sanctions and lack of coherent government policies to address challenges facing the agricultural sector has undermined productivity and economic development. This chapter concludes by providing suggestions and recommendations on how these unresolved issues can be addressed in order to promote equity and productivity in the sector.
