ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Fiona Cowdell focuses on childhood eczema, emphasising the need to develop a greater understanding and a shared language between child, parent, and healthcare practitioner. For too long, there has been undertreatment of eczema because all three parties have had, in effect, misleading mindlines about its management. She describes several novel and relatively low-cost approaches to eliciting and amending eczema mindlines within and across lay-practitioner-wider-society boundaries, and reports on work that is beginning to show a real impact on the lives of children with eczema and their families.
