ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents education-based approaches for pedagogical practice and discusses in an application-oriented way. Epistemological aspects of Bildung and digitization are discussed in the group context of pedagogical issues. In addition, the possibilities and limitations of Bildung-based pedagogical practice will be demonstrated in an application-oriented manner. From an epistemological point of view, Bildung is therefore also an “activist version” of the subject, which appropriates the world through action and self-determined learning, in which the individual constructs a self/world relationship. Developed by thinkers like Humboldt and Hegel, the basic idea of Bildung is that the subject unfolds itself within educational contexts – “Bildung is the cultivation of the self by the self” which stresses the autonomy of the individual.
