ABSTRACT

Josef A. Mestenhauser had an extraordinary capacity to engage people in exploring possibilities through critical conversations about theory and practice. From 2005, Leask had many discussions with Mestenhauser concerning the need to rethink approaches to internationalisation of the curriculum, to move it beyond a focus on mobility for an elite group of students towards something that integrated rather than minimised the complexity of people, cultures, and systems. In this chapter the author discusses how Mestenhauser’s ideas have contributed to the emergence of a future-oriented paradigm of internationalisation of the curriculum for all students.
