ABSTRACT
Jharkhand paper like other state papers also reveals how the Balakot air strike and the nationalist fervour it ensued proved to be one of the most important factors influencing the electoral outcome of the 2019 election. The Modi factor helped the party as the popular perception in the state was that only the BJP led by Modi could have taken such a tough stand against the Pakistan-based terrorists. Along with it, the survey revealed that Modi as prime ministerial candidate also proved to be a decisive factor as there were not many takers for Rahul Gandhi. Campaign strategy of BJP and the selection of appropriate candidates also improved the prospect of the BJP in this election, the author argues.
