ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a framework for learner-centred coach education and development that can be of practical use for coach developers and programme developers alike. An argument is made for considering pedagogy as a message system and the work of the coach developer of primary importance. Though the idea of learner-centred teaching is not new, this chapter brings greater clarity to the concept and its relevance to coach education and development by describing its tenets and discussing their application from the perspective of the coach developer.
