ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces and discusses the use of game analysis for training and preparation for competition. It will be demonstrated that individual game effectiveness is the main parameter to measure and to determine game performance. Based on a game phase and a game structure model, two different approaches to in-game analysis are presented. Independent of these approaches, the game analysis on the goalkeeper position needs special attention, because of the significant differences in acting on this position compared to the on-field players. An outlook is given on the special demands in analyzing the second discipline of team handball, beach handball. In the end, the future challenge of game analysis through the use of kinemetric data is discussed.
