ABSTRACT

When the literature on the historical development of public relations (PR) in Turkey is analysed, it is visible that women leaders take important roles as PR practitioners. However, since female practitioners take important roles in the establishment of the PR profession, there is a limited number of academic studies on the number and the positions of female practitioners in Turkey. Besides, there is not any research about the challenges women practitioners are facing, their experiences, and their status in the profession and also numbers like how many women practitioners are working both in the public and private sector in Turkey. In this respect, this chapter discusses the leaders’ opinions on their definitions and opinions about the PR profession and their empowerment strategies.
