ABSTRACT

Ronèl Rensburg was a South African scholar and practitioner who showed excellent academic and research leadership during the profound political and social change in South Africa, and the global academic and professional environments. By considering Ronèl’s contribution and impact, the research highlights leadership themes not clearly outlined in the literature. These include transparency, having a global vision, having a societal view, and having the resilience to thrive in challenging circumstances. These can be understood within the wider leadership model Ronèl followed, based on the principles of a larger meta-modernism approach that allowed her a duality in her views, and a focus on people as well as processes.
