ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of grammar instruction in the general field of second language teaching and learning as well as in the specific field of Chinese as a second language. It starts by defining the key concepts and highlighting the most-discussed issues. It is followed by a discussion on the scopes of the inquiries this monograph will address and the objectives it intends to achieve. This overview concludes with a brief summary of each of the studies included in this monograph.
