ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the concept of the New International Military Order (NIMO) a reasonably precise content away from the status of a mere slogan. A typical example would be present developments in Western Europe, where it is obvious that -while most of the political focus is upon the integration of military policies, foreign policy and the possibility of a ‘European army’ -these are features of much less significance than the pace with which the idea of a unified European military-industrial co-operation is being developed. Advanced weapon systems flow around in increasing amounts and the military-industrial capacity of nations likewise is intensified. The NIMO originates in the overdeveloped, overarmed centre nations — especially within the superpowers. The global strategies contain, of course, the building up of allies, pact systems, bases, infrastructure and the militarisation of oceans and space - as well as the continued threat of using force, intervention or invasion.
