ABSTRACT

For much of my career in healthcare management and leadership, I have found myself focusing on organisational performance or being examined for it as a CEO. My more recent experiences have shown me that organisational health conducted in a psychologically safe workplace should 22be the lens through which we seek to see organisational performance enabled and driven. In this chapter, I set out my experience of focusing on organisational health through developing Just Culture in a large National Health Service (NHS) mental and community physical health trust. I've led Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust as CEO since 2012, and this is what happened.
