ABSTRACT

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are prevalent and complex conditions under neurodevelopmental disorders. Its burden on a developing nation like India, coupled with the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, forces us to reckon telehealth methods of providing service. Telehealth interventions, also called e-interventions, are services provided over the internet, video, audio, or live conferencing modes. The present chapter has demonstrated that telehealth interventions have proven promising in the West, as assessed using a brief review on children with ASD. In contrast, very few negligible studies are noted from India. Such a comparison brings sharp lacunae from our Indian subcontinent and this is discussed in the present chapter. The urgent need for such telehealth services in ASD while bringing our challenges to researchers and policymakers has been the purpose of this chapter.
