ABSTRACT

Precision medicine is an approach in healthcare, which includes various technologies to guide individually tailored diagnosis and treatment. The heart of this strategy is a set of computer algorithms such as artificial intelligence (AI) that identify patterns in multidimensional datasets, which are then used to predict, based on the availability of similar data on individual patients. The chapter focus will be on the application of technology including AI high-performance computing, machine learning, etc., to redirect large genomic and clinical datasets available pertaining to individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) to facilitate improved diagnosis, intervention, and clinical outcomes. The discussion will also highlight the challenges and opportunities for AI in relation to NDD, along with the need for a biologically driven phenotype that might be helpful in positive treatment response.
