ABSTRACT

This essay focuses on the theme of invitation through reflections on reimagined creative engagement in HMYOI Polmont Young Offenders Institution throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Gudrun Soley Sigurdardottir reflects on the challenges and successes of designing and delivering A Way of Passing Time, In Tune, and The JukeBox; three projects launched by Glass Performance in partnership with Barnardo’s and The Scottish Prison Service. The essay itself is framed as an invitation for the reader, highlighting the importance of invitation as part of artistic process and engagement, as well as being an important tool for new discoveries and connections.
