ABSTRACT

This chapter aims at analyzing the “boom” in Polish museology after the creation of the Warsaw Rising Museum in 2004 – a revolutionary change in comparison to former, much more conservative ways of presentation which focused on objects rather than education; also, the popularization of history in the broader public is presented. The shift from visitor-observer to visitor-participant which irreversibly changed museums and public expectations towards them is analyzed. It presents new Polish historical museums and exhibitions, as well as the public debate on their exhibitions and activities.
