ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book elucidates the process of socio-political and legal transformation of the Turkish political system and its influence on the elections, laws, and regulations that guide them by 2018. It explains the election laws and rules were so designed to enable the government to have an unfair competition, whereby the opposition parties are not provided with much chance of making their impact on the agenda through their campaigning activities. The book primarily evaluates fairness of elections on partisan grounds from a long-term perspective. It presents data analyses to explain how the voters were mobilized and adopted issue positions in the changing political and ideological climate of the post-Cold War era.
