ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the development of a pilot equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) undergraduate student internship program at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Library from the perspective of the supervising librarian and the two interns hired into the positions for the 2020/2021 academic year. The chapter includes a description of how these positions were created, hired, and structured, as well as personal reflections from both of the students hired, and the supervising librarian on their experiences, conflicts of doing this work, successes, challenges, the strategies that worked and what aspects will be continued, changes, and next steps of this program.
