ABSTRACT

Humans and non-humans are living through the sixth mass extinction because our domination of land and species, extraction and burning of fossil fuels have contributed to the overheating and polluting of the planet and biodiversity loss. Care for the planet, humans and non-humans requires the end of fossil fuels, investment in renewable energy sources and move to a post-carbon economy that values life on earth rather than greed and power. Practices of care for humans and non-humans must be the focus of all endeavors and of our adaptation and mitigation of the climate crisis. Exploitative white supremacism and systemic racism have no place in a world which focuses on equity, care and responsibility instead of domination. The proliferation and consumption of lethal and contaminated materials are dangerous for the health and wellbeing of the humans and non-humans that inhabit our planet.
