ABSTRACT
The so-called artificial intelligence is about to make its entry into a number of fields, and intelligence analysis is no exception. Various computer programs are increasingly supporting analysts in their work, especially in analysing large volumes of data and complex causal links. At the same time, they emphasise the limitations of technology and the analyst’s continued important role in the intelligence process. When it comes to making complex intelligence problems meaningful, and communicating these to decision-makers, the machine’s algorithms will hardly be able to outperform the human brain and judgement.
