ABSTRACT
This chapter traces the evolution of translation technology in Canada, from the emergence of the first computerized aids (dedicated word processors), through the well-known success of the Météo system, to the development of innovative translator support tools like TransType. We also assess the current use of cutting-edge technologies like statistical MT and automatic dictation for the production of high-quality translation.
