ABSTRACT
Machine translation (MT) in France started at the time of the Cold War. We will see what was produced in France at this epoch but more particularly the situation concerning translation technology at the time of writing this chapter.
Two approaches to MT clearly stand out, one being based on linguistic and mathematical models and the other on statistical and/or neural models.
