ABSTRACT
In this chapter, you will learn how to complete a post-occupancy evaluation. This is a study of life in public space used to improve our understanding of how people might respond to different approaches to public realm design. It introduces you to some of the key literature on the method for you to explore further. It then explains how to prepare and undertake a similar study, covering all of the basic issues. An example of a study of life in a residential street is referred to as an example. Some sense of the use of technology to help with similar forms of survey and analysis in the future is also hinted at.
